Retail-tech veteran Donald Kingsborough has led Atari, PayPal, and Blackhawk Network, built billion-dollar businesses, and advised fintech innovators, bringing deep experience at the intersection of retail, payments, and emerging consumer technologies.
Donald Kingsborough is a veteran retail-tech and payments executive with over four decades of experience scaling businesses across consumer electronics, fintech, prepaid, and retail innovation.
He began his career as President of Consumer Products at Atari Corporation, where he led retail and marketing efforts that helped grow Nintendo’s U.S. sales from zero to over $2 billion in under four years. In 1985, he co-founded Worlds of Wonder, launching Teddy Ruxpin and Lazer Tag, and playing a key role in bringing the Nintendo Entertainment System to U.S. retailers – turning WoW into one of the fastest-growing toy firms of its time.
In 2001, Donald founded Blackhawk Network, pioneering the prepaid and gift card industry and building it into a multibillion-dollar platform before exiting as CEO. He later joined PayPal as VP of Retail & Prepaid Products, leading its in-store payments expansion and building major retail partnerships.
More recently, he has served in executive and board roles with Westfield Retail Solutions and OneMarket, advising payments innovators like Flow Networks and Earnity on using transaction data to drive customer engagement. He also chaired the National Retail Federation board, shaping the future of retail, technology, and payments.
