Jörg Grotendorst is a proven innovator in AI-driven mobility, e-mobility, and automotive software. He has held senior roles at Continental, Siemens, ZF, Rheinmetall and Magna, led global teams of 10,000+ and shaped €2.5B+ businesses. Since 2006 he has founded the E-Mobility Business Units for several Tier1 suppliers at lately focused on the vision for the car of the future, robotics and AI applications.
Jörg Grotendorst is a seasoned automotive executive and strategic advisor with nearly 30 years of experience advancing electrification, mobility, and software innovation across the DACH region and worldwide. He focuses on AI-driven vehicle technologies and supports companies in navigating the shift toward software-defined mobility and intelligent systems.
He began his career at Daimler-Chrysler AG, contributing to electronic brake control systems like ABS and ESP. At Continental AG, he led teams focused on chassis-, transmission- and engine systems and overall vehicle performance, and played a key role in launching the company’s “Hybrid & Electric Vehicle business unit” to design and produce electric motors, power electronics and even LiIon-Batteries. He later built Siemens’ electric drive unit, “Inside eCar”, which was strategically integrated into Valeo.
In 2016, he joined ZF Friedrichshafen AG as founding head of its “E-Mobility Division” and built it up to one of the world’s leading providers for E-Drive Systems, leading at the end almost 10,000 employees across 20+ global sites. In 2020, he was appointed to the Executive Board of Rheinmetall AG, overseeing its €2B automotive division.
Since 2023, Jörg has held senior executive roles at Magna International, including SVP of Corporate R&D, helping shape its roadmap for next-generation vehicle technologies.
With 100+ patents and deep expertise in product strategy, Jörg helps global companies accelerate go-to-market in AI, e-mobility, connectivity, and autonomous systems.
