Munich, July 15, 2025 – HTEC, a global developer of customised hardware and software solutions, is strengthening its commitment to the DACH region, with a primary focus on the automotive industry. Jörg Grotendorst will advise the company with immediate effect, helping to optimally position HTEC’s extensive expertise in developing control and assistance systems, as well as other vehicle software, with OEMs and their suppliers.
HTEC aims to support the automotive industry in German-speaking countries not only with traditional engineering services, but also by providing close support throughout the development process of the car of the future, from initial concepts and implementation to market launch and subsequent product maintenance. The focus is on technically demanding projects. HTEC collaborates closely with OEMs and suppliers, combining their expertise to maximise the potential of every project. This close partnership is especially important in the challenging AI environment.
Grotendorst, who holds the position of Automotive Industry Advisor at HTEC, will support the company with his many years of experience and in-depth expertise. An enthusiastic engineer, he can look back on almost 30 years of industry experience and holds over one hundred patents himself. “I believe that my skills are a perfect fit for HTEC’s positioning and agility,” Grotendorst emphasises.
He began his professional career at Daimler-Benz — formerly DaimlerChrysler — working on the development of electronic brake control systems, including ABS and ESP.
He spent most of his career at Continental. Initially, he helped to develop electronic chassis, before moving up to management positions in the chassis and drive domain, and building up the hybrid and electric drive domain. He then established the new electric drive business unit for vehicles at Siemens, subsequently finding a buyer for this domain in Valeo. In the mid-2010s, he built up ZF’s e-mobility division and founded a production and development centre in Pancevo, near Belgrade, Serbia. It was here that he first came into contact with HTEC. As a Rheinmetall board member, he managed the automotive business.
Since 2023, he has worked at Magna International, initially as SVP of the Car of the Future programme, and subsequently as SVP of Corporate R&D.
Grotenhorst is extremely impressed by HTEC: “HTEC has an incredible amount of automotive expertise in the field of electronics and software. Added to this is the broad AI knowledge in numerous other industries. It will be an exciting task to use this cumulative expertise in innovation projects with OEMs and suppliers to drive forward future topics such as autonomous driving, electromobility and connectivity,” he explains. “HTEC will be able to significantly support the German automotive industry and help it to bring new functions, products and models to market faster. In the current competitive environment, which will continue to intensify, such a fast time-to-market is essential.”
