UXDX USA 2025 took place in New York City from May 12–14, drawing over 500 professionals across product, UX, design, and development disciplines for a sold-out event. With 40+ speakers and eight workshops, the conference spotlighted the shift from project-based delivery to product-centric teams, emphasizing AI, data-informed design, and new ways of working.
HTEC’s Product and Design team was on the grounds to absorb emerging trends and innovation and foster interdisciplinary dialogue around AI.
Designing AI Experiences that Earn Trust
Our team members, Principal Product Designer Sam Price and Senior Product Designer Dimitri Biliur, led a three-hour hands-on workshop, UX of AI: Designing for AI-Powered Experiences. Grounded in HTEC’s Cognitive Design Frameworks, an approach to crafting intuitive AI-driven experiences, the session analyzed real-life AI implementations to uncover key lessons. It focused on exploring how to design AI experiences that are intuitive, human-centered, and trustworthy, drawing from real-world implementations to surface practical lessons.
“Many speakers at UXDX encouraged designers to ‘play’ with the tools and data rather than viewing AI as a threat,” remarked Sam after the conference. “However, we also need to provide structure and guidance for that ‘play’.” Dimitri added, “AI represents a paradigm shift that requires us to rethink the way we craft experiences.”
The session resonated strongly with attendees, generating valuable feedback and interest. Building on this momentum, HTEC is exploring opportunities with UXDX to bring the workshop to clients and the broader design community.
Building AI-Native Products Through Better Collaboration
A core theme at UXDX was breaking down silos between product, UX, design, and development. In the spirit of UXDX, HTEC’s Global VP of Product and Design, Carsten Wierwille, hosted a fireside chat titled, Bridging the Gap: How Product, UX, and Dev Can Build AI-Native Products Together. Joined by Jacobus Kok, VP of Product at Priceline, the discussion focused on the interdisciplinary nature of creating AI products, emphasizing the importance of alignment and quality collaboration practices between product managers, UX designers, and developers.
We also hosted an executive roundtable with select product, design, and technology leaders to explore how organizations can move from broad experimentation to scalable AI execution. In recent years, companies have made AI investments and created lists of potential use cases, but many still lack a clear, actionable roadmap grounded in user needs and business value.
“Too often, we see companies experimenting broadly without a clear plan to scale what works,” said Carsten. He added, “We need to make the shift from letting 1,000 flowers bloom to zooming in on the opportunity where AI can add the most significant value for users and organizations.”
From Ideas to Impact
Whether through workshops, panels, or executive dialogue, one message was clear—bridging gaps across disciplines is essential to accelerating AI’s impact. Our team left UXDX truly inspired with renewed excitement for AI.
